Basketball Recap: Mia Quaranta's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Francis over Glenbard West

St. Francis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenbard West Hilltoppers. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 78th).

St. Francis lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mia Quaranta, who posted 13 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Quaranta has posted since back in December of 2024. Riley Austin was another key player, going 6 of 14 on her way to 17 points.

St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Glenbard West, their victory bumped their record up to 17-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on Trinity at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Glenbard West, they will face off against Lyons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
