Baseball Recap: George Rogers Clark Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but George Rogers Clark ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the West Jessamine Colts 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Caleb Pierce looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chase Wheeler was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Todd, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

George Rogers Clark's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for West Jessamine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17-1 record this season.

George Rogers Clark will be playing at home against Paris at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Jessamine, they will square off against Mercer County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
