It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Granite Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Victor Valley Jackrabbits, sneaking past 7-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Caden Wharton made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Kaleb Kutz and Paul Watts did most of the damage at the plate: Kutz went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Watts went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Watts a new career-high.
