Recap: Marshall Rams vs. Clark Cougars

The Marshall Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clark. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marshall in their matchups with Clark: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jason Vidaurri, who scored ten points. Aric Goodman was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Marshall were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their 16th loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Clark found their leader in underclassman Jaden Flemons, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Flemons has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kristian Burgan, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Marshall dropped their record down to 6-19 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Clark, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will take on Reagan at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Reagan will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Clark, they will be playing at home against Lee at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Clark likes a good challenge.
