Recap: Mackinac Island Lakers vs. Beaver Island Islanders
The Mackinac Island Lakers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 40-35 win over Beaver Island on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mackinac Island also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Mackinac Island got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaylee Cowell out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Lakelyn Bunker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Mackinac Island's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Beaver Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Mackinac Island will head out on the road to square off against Beaver Island at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Beaver Island's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Mackinac Island's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Beaver Island, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Mackinac Island at 8:30 a.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Mackinac Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
