Softball Game Preview: Richwoods Knights vs. Urbana Tigers

Richwoods hasn't had much luck against Urbana recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Neither Richwoods nor Urbana posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Richwoods is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Morton.

Addison Morrissey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Morrissey wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cici Robinson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Urbana's offense. They came up short against Tolono Unity on Wednesday, falling 10-0. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Lizzy Lange spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

Urbana's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Richwoods, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-13.
