Recap: Smoky Mountain Mustangs vs. Veritas Christian Academy Warriors
On Friday, Smoky Mountain beat Veritas Christian Academy 43-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Smoky Mountain.
Veritas Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlyn Miller, who scored five points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aunica Tomlinson, who scored eight points.
The win got Smoky Mountain back to even at 6-6. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Smoky Mountain and North Henderson will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Henderson is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Veritas Christian Academy and Lake Lure Classical Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Lure Classical Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
