Basketball Recap: Galesburg Christian Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

If Pathway Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Galesburg Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Ryan Walker. The Galesburg Christian Lions managed a 49-45 victory over the Pathway Christian Panthers on Friday thanks in part to Walker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. What's more, he also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

Malachi Barker was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played.

Pathway Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Denver Nelson and Preston Yutzy. Nelson went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points, while Yutzy went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points.

Galesburg Christian's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5. As for Pathway Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-5 record.

Galesburg Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-49 defeat against Calvary Christian Academy on the 14th. As for Pathway Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-26 loss against Quad Cities Christian on the 13th.
