The Quaker Valley Quakers will challenge the Obama Academy of International Studies Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Quaker Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Quaker Valley took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Moon Area, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Quakers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Quakers have posted since March 27th.
The team relied heavily on Ryan Finamore, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Henry Zupanc, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Obama Academy of International Studies waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Commodores get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Obama Academy of International Studies got a massive performance out of Elijah Rawlings, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark (C) Ehman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Obama Academy of International Studies always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry Traditional Academy only posted an OBP of .000.
The victory made it two in a row for Quaker Valley and bumps their season record up to 12-6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Obama Academy of International Studies, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Quaker Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Obama Academy of International Studies struggles in that department as they've averaged .480.
