Western Albemarle hasn't had much luck against Orange County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Fighting Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Western Albemarle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.

Western Albemarle came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Fluvanna County by a score of 7-5 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since March 13, 2024.

Aniyah Sims was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jillie Clark, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, while Orange County put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Albemarle. The Fighting Hornets blew past the Patriots 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Hornets, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Orange County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Western Albemarle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Western Albemarle might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Orange County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
