Softball Recap: Aptos Extends Winning Streak to Six

Aptos waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Santa Cruz Cardinals 14-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-2 on April 3rd.

The team relied heavily on Emma Burgueno, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Cara Allshouse was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Aptos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Cruz only posted an OBP of .238.

Aptos' win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Santa Cruz, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aptos will venture away from home to challenge Scotts Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Santa Cruz, they will head out on the road to square off against Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
