Baseball Recap: Westlake Takes a Loss

Westlake extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 12-11 in the process. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Edward Eagles. The Demons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Westlake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Nash, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for St. Edward, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On St. Edward's side, the team relied heavily on Langston Lucas, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Lucas a new career-high.

Coming up, Westlake will venture away from home to square off against Normandy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Edward, they will take on Waynedale at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
