Softball Game Preview: Slaughter Community Charter Knights vs. Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets

The Slaughter Community Charter Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Slaughter Community Charter has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Tuesday, Slaughter Community Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Episcopal, taking the game 16-11. Slaughter Community Charter hasn't had any issues with Episcopal recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Hannah Brister was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Conlee Flotte, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

Slaughter Community Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Catholic of Pointe Coupee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Archbishop Hannan get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Monday.

Catholic of Pointe Coupee's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Slaughter Community Charter, their record now sits at 5-7.

Slaughter Community Charter might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Catholic of Pointe Coupee when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can Slaughter Community Charter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
