Baseball Recap: Somerset Takes a Loss

Somerset was the 6-5 winner over Danville when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Somerset fell just short of Danville by a score of 5-4 on Friday.

Josh Bruner and Conner Vanderploeg did some serious damage despite the final result: Bruner went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Vanderploeg went 1-for-3 with one home run. That hit marked the first that Vanderploeg got this season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Somerset lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Somerset now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Danville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset will head out to take on Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Danville, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Barbourville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
