Basketball Recap: St. Francis Skates Past Dunkirk with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Timon-St. Jude, St. Francis was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 64-34 win over the Dunkirk Marauders. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Red Raiders had established a 22 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Zielinski, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. Sal Giardina was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

The victory got St. Francis back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on Lancaster in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dunkirk, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Falconer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dunkirk will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
