Volleyball Recap: Lake Center Christian Tiger vs. Open Door Christian Patriots
After flying high against Aquinas last Tuesday, Lake Center Christian came back down to earth. The Lake Center Christian Tiger fell just short of the Open Door Christian Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tiger of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Lake Center Christian actually scored more points across those five sets (106-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19, 25-27, 11-25, 15-12.
Even though they lost, Lake Center Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Open Door Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sammy Comer, who had 22 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Reaser, who had 17 digs.
Lake Center Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Open Door Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.
