Football Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Cherokee played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 36-12 to the Phillips Bears. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Cade Tice threw for 75 yards while completing 83.3% of his passes. 'Javarian ''Woo''' Davis was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards. On the ground, Peyton Webster rushed for 78 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

Phillips had a senior duo take command as Trey Tidwell rushed for 51 yards and one TD and Adarian Thompson picked up 61 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Cherokee and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Phillips, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Cherokee will challenge Shoals Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Flame's rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Phillips, they will take on Hackleburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
