Mercer Island had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 46-point drubbing they dealt Hazen on Friday. The Islanders simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Highlanders 80-34. The Islanders have beaten the Highlanders the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Highlanders has come to flipping the script.

Despite the defeat, Hazen saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josiah Zwitt posted seven points.

Mercer Island's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hazen, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Mercer Island and Hazen will both be playing Juanita the next time they take the court. The Islanders will head out to face the Ravens at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Highlanders will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
