Basketball Recap: Ellie Topp's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Winside over Madison

Winside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Madison Dragons. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 38-34 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Winside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ellie Topp, who posted 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Marotz, who put up eight points in addition to 15 boards and five steals.

Winside's record now sits at 2-7. As for Madison, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Winside Wildcats take on the Randolph Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winside is facing Randolph at the right time seeing as Randolph is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Madison, they will host Wisner-Pilger on Thursday.
