Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Sand Creek

Sand Creek won the last time they faced Mesa Ridge and things went their way on Friday too. The Scorpions walked away with a 6-2 win over the Grizzlies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Scorpions.

Jackson Lucero made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Avyn Walter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
