Softball Recap: Gustine Comes Up Short

Gustine extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-16 in the process. They lost 9-1 to the Stone Ridge Christian Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-5 on April 2nd.

As for Stone Ridge Christian, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-6. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Stone Ridge Christian's part, Emma Quisenberry made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Quisenberry has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Hayden Quisenberry was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rennah Friedman, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Gustine has already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against Waterford on the 7th. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-7 win against Denair on the 5th.
