Football Game Preview: Heritage Patriots vs. Jay County Patriots

Heritage are taking a road trip to take on Jay County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jay County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Heritage, who comes in off a win.

Heritage gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over Southern Wells. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Weber led the charge by throwing for 160 yards and three TDs while completing 90% of his passes. Jake Krauss handled things on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

Heritage didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Southern Wells to a completion percentage of just 11.1%. The Patriots have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.65 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.65 in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Jay County played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 42-14 loss at the hands of Lapel. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Jay County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Everything went Heritage's way against Jay County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Heritage made off with a 35-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heritage since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
