Softball Recap: Bishop's Wins Going Away Against Francis Parker

Bishop had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Francis Parker on Thursday. The Knights blew past the Lancers 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sydney Mafong made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Jessica Yao and Bella Bravo did most of the damage at the plate: Yao went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Bravo went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Bravo a new career-high. Jayla Stafford was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bishop's win bumped their record up to 12-8-1. As for Francis Parker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Bishop's nor Francis Parker have any future games scheduled.
