Softball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for New Smyrna Beach's offense. They lost 10-0 to the Astronaut War Eagles on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Barracudas in their meetings with the War Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

New Smyrna Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsi Dodge, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double was Dodge's first of the season.

New Smyrna Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Astronaut, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Smyrna Beach will take on Flagler Palm Coast at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Astronaut, they will square off against Sebastian River at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The War Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
