Basketball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Tigers vs. Gunter Tigers

Blue Ridge is 0-9 against Gunter since December of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Blue Ridge Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Gunter Tigers at 6:15 p.m.

Blue Ridge is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-41 heartbreaker at the hands of Pottsboro. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while the Cardinals are ranked 165th).

Meanwhile, Gunter waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They walked away with a 49-41 victory over the Panthers.

Gunter has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.6 points per game. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-14.

Blue Ridge was dealt a bruising 65-25 loss at the hands of Gunter when the teams last played back in January. Can Blue Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
