Baseball Recap: Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Classical Academy extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 12-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Jolla Country Day Torreys. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Torreys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Tuesday.

Chaeton Revilla was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Classical Academy is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Travis Perry was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Landon Falk, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for La Jolla Country Day, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

On La Jolla Country Day's side, the team relied heavily on Mitchell Circuit, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Riley Davis-Reagan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

While Classical Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
