Baseball Recap: Palm Harbor University Now 11-2 over Last 13 Games

Palm Harbor University lost to Northeast back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Hurricanes had just enough and edged out the Vikings 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted against the Vikings since May 2, 2019.

Kasey Mink made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Smith Wortham was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sebbie Silva, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Palm Harbor University has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Northeast, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Palm Harbor University and Northeast are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Hurricanes will take on Plant City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northeast, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Countryside at 7:30 p.m. The Cougars will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
