Softball Preview: Tunkhannock Tigers vs. Pittston Patriots        
        
		
            
 Tunkhannock and Pittston are an even 5-5 against one another  since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Tunkhannock Tigers will head out on the road to  square off against  the Pittston Patriots at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Both teams come into the  matchup bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Last Tuesday, Tunkhannock made easy work of Hazleton Area  and carried off  an  8-1 win.
  Mckenzie Hannon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 12 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. Hannon was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Erin Van Ness, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Lucy Karp, who  went 1-for-4 with two  runs and a  triple.
 Meanwhile, Pittston had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Dallas  a   13-0 shutout  on Tuesday.
 Like Tunkhannock, Pittston also got a great game from a two-way player:  Gianna Adams. On the mound, she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Adams was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Marina Antal was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  doubles.  Tori Stephenson was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 4-for-4.
 Tunkhannock now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pittston, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with that  victory, which was their eighth straight  on the road dating back to last season.
 Tunkhannock came up short against Pittston in their previous matchup  back in May of 2023, falling  5-1. Can Tunkhannock avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
