Softball Game Preview: ALA - Ironwood Warriors vs. Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles

The ALA - Ironwood Warriors will challenge the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

ALA - Ironwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on San Tan Foothills with a sharp 16-6 victory on Monday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Sabercats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Bourgade Catholic made easy work of Northwest Christian on Tuesday and carried off a 14-3 victory. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Olivia Durazo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Bourgade Catholic let Maya Macias and Esther Quezada run wild. Macias scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Quezada went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Quezada a new career-high. Samantha Santillan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Bourgade Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest Christian only posted an OBP of .304.

Bourgade Catholic pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for ALA - Ironwood, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-9.
