Basketball Recap: Susitna Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Susitna Valley and Cordova squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Susitna Valley had to settle for second. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cordova Wolverines. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Susitna Valley's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Cordova, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Susitna Valley and Cordova are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Susitna Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chevak at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Susitna Valley has given up an average of 55.8 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Cordova, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Metlakatla at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Metlakatla comes in on three and Cordova on seven.
