Softball Game Preview: Ridgefield Spudders vs. Columbia River Rapids

Ridgefield has gone 9-1 against Columbia River recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Spudders will look to defend their home field against the Rapids at 4:30 p.m. Ridgefield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.

Ridgefield's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Washougal 25-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spudders.

Gracie Olmos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tava Whitlow, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Isabelle Walker was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

Ridgefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Columbia River beat La Center 5-0 back in March.

Emily Hull was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Ridgefield pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Columbia River, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Ridgefield beat Columbia River 10-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Spudders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rapids turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
