Baseball Recap: Mendon Takes a Loss

Mendon managed to slip by Sutherland the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Vikings lost 13-0 to the Knights on Saturday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Vikings were not able to get on the board.

Mendon got a good showing from Nathan Markevicz, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Markevicz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Mendon's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Sutherland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5.

Mendon and Sutherland should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Vikings will square off against Greece Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (57 vs. 517). Meanwhile, Sutherland (ranked 131st) will meet East (ranked 337th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
