Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Cowboys vs. Eastside Lions

The Canyon Cowboys will challenge the Eastside Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Canyon needed a bit of extra time to put away Van Nuys. They had just enough and edged out the Wolves 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted since April 24, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Matthew Jimenez, who scored a run while going 4-for-6. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Shickle, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, while Eastside scored more runs than they have all season, the final result was a bit underwhelming. They and Desert Christian finished up on equal footing with an 8-8 tie on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Canyon's victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. Eastside's tie gives them a new season record of 1-6-1.
