Softball Recap: Lewis & Clark Tigers vs. University Titans
Lewis & Clark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the University Titans. The Tigers lost against the Titans in their previous head to head back in April of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 32-0 score last time.
Kara Goetz was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Goetz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Rhiannon Kilgore was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Beibhinn Kilgore, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Lewis & Clark's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for University, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lewis & Clark is set to face off against their familiar foe Cheney at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, University will take on rival Central Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
