Softball Game Preview: Yorktown Huskers vs. Clarkstown North Rams

The Yorktown Huskers will square off against the Clarkstown North Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Yorktown came up short against Arlington and fell 6-1. The Huskers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clarkstown North, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mount Vernon a 17-0 shutout on Friday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.

Donatella Clemente made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Peyton Conti was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Marlee Levin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Clarkstown North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Yorktown now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Clarkstown North, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Yorktown took their victory against Clarkstown North in their previous meeting back in June of 2021 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Huskers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
