Softball Recap: Auburn Trojans vs. Tahoma Bears
Auburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 18-5 walloping at the hands of the Tahoma Bears. Auburn was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tahoma apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Jacquelyn Casad made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Luse Jacob, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
On Tahoma's side, Justine Hopkins made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Hopkins was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Kalani Higa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last five games she's played. Lily Rice was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Tahoma, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Auburn will square off against Kentridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Auburn is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 13 runs per game this season. As for Tahoma, they will be playing in front of their home fans against White River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
