South Carolina and Florida powers unite in one of the best games of the week.
Video: (17) Spartanburg vs. Wakulla - high school football preview
MaxPreps takes a look at the big out-of-state matchup in Florida.Spartanburg (S.C.) at Wakulla (Crawfordville, Fla.)Why
it's big: South Carolina's top team travels to the panhandle to
challenge one of Florida's premier medium-school powers. In five-star
running back
Tavien Feaster,
No. 17 Spartanburg returns the state's top-rated player from last
year's Class 4A/II state championship team. Feaster (Clemson) had over
1,000 yards both rushing and receiving and 28 total touchdowns last
season.
Feleipe Franks,
rated the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2016 by
247Sports, is back to lead Wakulla's power-based offense. A year ago,
the 6-foot-5, 220-pound LSU commit threw for 2,249 yards with 28 touchdowns
and only eight interceptions.
Names to watch: On the Spartanburg
side, Feaster is undoubtedly what attracted ESPN to televise Saturday's
game, but look for huge numbers from senior quarterback
Austin Scott in the Vikings' spread attack. The 6-2, 195-pounder passed for 4,401 yards and 52 touchdowns as a junior.
Franks and Florida State-committed
Keith Gavin are the stars expected to shine brightest for Wakulla.
