Basketball Recap: Rocky River Comes Up Short

Rocky River was the 61-59 winner over Charlotte Catholic when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rocky River Ravens took a hard 76-60 fall against the Charlotte Catholic Cougars on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Cougars are ranked 37th).

When it comes to explaining why Rocky River lost, don't look at Jayden Ross. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. Ross' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of BRIAN Carr, who posted 13 points.

King Rhodes had a dynamite game for Charlotte Catholic, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. Ben Bergren was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Rocky River's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Charlotte Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Rocky River will square off against Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Butler will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Rocky River surely won't give up without a fight. As for Charlotte Catholic, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Charlotte Catholic Cougars duke it out with the Garinger Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Charlotte Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
