Baseball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. El Toro Chargers

For the second straight game, Capistrano Valley will face off against El Toro. The Cougars will face off against the Chargers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Capistrano Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so El Toro's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Capistrano Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over El Toro. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Capistrano Valley got a great performance from Charlie Fuller as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Fuller has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jackson Kosewick was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Gavin Collins was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Capistrano Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Toro only posted a batting average of .192.

Capistrano Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-12-1. As for El Toro, they moved to 14-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
