Baseball Game Preview: West Valley Eagles vs. Lassen Grizzlies

For the second straight game, West Valley will face off against Lassen. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 16 games.

On Tuesday, West Valley made easy work of Lassen and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayden Knight tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryton Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gunner Church, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive games.

West Valley's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Lassen, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10.
