Baseball Game Preview: Jordan Warriors vs. Tompkins Falcons

Jordan is 0-5 against Tompkins since April of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Jordan Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Tompkins Falcons at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jordan has four straight wins, Tompkins has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Jordan didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Fort Bend Travis by a score of 5-1 on Saturday.

Carter Smoller looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Cole Keppler and Braden Eckerman did most of the damage at the plate: Keppler scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Eckerman scored a run while going 1-for-2. JD Ortigoza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Tompkins' offense. They came up short against Tomball on Saturday, falling 6-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

Jordan's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tompkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
