Softball Game Preview: Rockledge Raiders vs. Master's Academy Eagles

The Rockledge Raiders will square off against the Master's Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockledge will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Rockledge beat Sebastian River 10-5.

Haley Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gizelle Arteaga was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Aiyana Sandy was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Arteaga wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rockledge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 27 runs the game before, Master's Academy was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of Mount Dora Christian Academy by a score of 3-1. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Rockledge pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Master's Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
