Basketball Game Preview: Manistique Emeralds vs. Negaunee Miners

Manistique hasn't had much luck against Negaunee recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Manistique Emeralds will square off against the Negaunee Miners at 7:15 p.m.

Manistique is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were outmatched by Ishpeming and fell 77-35. While losing is never fun, the Emeralds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Hematites are ranked 120th).

Meanwhile, Negaunee put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 48-41 win over Westwood.

Negaunee's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Manistique, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Manistique was dealt a bruising 65-17 defeat at the hands of Negaunee when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Manistique avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
