Volleyball Recap: Lake Central Indians vs. Benton Central Bison
Lake Central posted their closest win since August 16th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Benton Central Bison 2-1. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bison, too.
Lake Central was led to victory by Isabella Steliga and Brooklyn Barth. Steliga had 11 assists and seven digs, while Barth had eight digs and two assists.
Benton Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Minniear, who had 20 assists and two aces. Minniear is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Isabelle Adams was another key player, getting 11 assists and four digs.
The win made it two in a row for Lake Central and bumps their season record up to 13-9. As for Benton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Looking ahead, Lake Central will welcome Portage at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Benton Central, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against South Newton on the 29th.
