Basketball Recap: Urban Gets the Win

Urban posted their closest win since January 23rd on Saturday. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 48-45 victory over the San Marin Mustangs. Given the Blues' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Mustangs are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was J.D. Rhodes, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Grant Means, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points.

Urban has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for San Marin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Urban didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-49 defeat against University on the 30th. San Marin has also already played their next contest, a 63-51 win against Marin Catholic on the 30th.
