Volleyball Recap: Mt. Diablo Comes Up Short

Mt. Diablo lost against Benicia back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mt. Diablo Red Devils lost 3-0 to the Benicia Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Devils have suffered against the Panthers since March 8, 2022.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.

Benicia can attribute much of their success to Cruz Villanueva, who had 23 assists and nine digs. The dominant performance gave Villanueva a new career-high in digs.

Mt. Diablo is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. As for Benicia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-7.

Mt. Diablo has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Campolindo on the 7th. As for Benicia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Bethel on the 7th.
