Volleyball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Victoria East Titans. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

Munice Taylor paced Holmes' offense, picking up four kills. Taylor got some help from Ailana Soriano and her seven assists. Finally, Adiya Hampton kept Holmes' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Victoria East, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Holmes and Victoria East could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Huskies will take on Taft at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (680 vs. 197). Meanwhile, Victoria East (ranked 553rd) will meet McMullen County (ranked 246th) at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday.
