Softball Recap: Golden Gate Comes Up Short

Golden Gate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Community School of Naples Seahawks, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 26-10 on April 8th.

Golden Gate saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Pena, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Pena is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged three or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Golden Gate's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Community School of Naples, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

Golden Gate didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-0 defeat against Palmetto Ridge on the 28th. As for Community School of Naples, they will head out to square off against Seacrest Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Seahawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stingrays have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
