Greenfield-Central and Yorktown are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenfield-Central has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Yorktown will come in with three straight victories.

On Saturday, Greenfield-Central didn't have quite enough to beat Valparaiso and fell 5-4.

Brady Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Greenfield-Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Kidd, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run. Another was Jacob Welch, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yorktown). They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Muncie Central on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Yorktown also got a great performance from Ben Steele as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Steele has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Noah Loveall was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Kaden Crumes was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Yorktown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muncie Central struck out seven times.

Yorktown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
