Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Takes Down Ranked Lincoln Southwest

Creighton Prep faced Lincoln Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Junior Jays put the hurt on the Silver Hawks with a sharp 10-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Junior Jays considering their two-run performance the match before.

Vinny Constantino looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Creighton Prep is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 8-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Creighton Prep let Liam Smithberg and Teddy Stratman run wild. Smithberg went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles, while Stratman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Creighton Prep is undefeated when Stratman posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Burchfiel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Creighton Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Creighton Prep back to even at 11-11. As for Lincoln Southwest, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.
